KARBALA: Karbala's investment commission on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to construct 15 thousand residential units to the west of Karbala city, said the commission's spokesperson.

"The project will be finalized within around 5 years," Ahmed al-Asali told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

"The units' areas will vary between 100 to 300 squared meters," he said.

Al-Asali did not mention how much the project would cost.

The holy city of Karbala lies 110 km southwest of Baghdad.
