HANOI -- Kuwaiti Minister of Oil and Information Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah will pay an official visit to Hanoi from Tuesday at the invitation of Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, the Kuwaiti Embassy in Hanoi confirmed on Monday.

The minister will be accompanied by several senior officials from state-run firms, Kuwait Petroleum International Company (KPI) and Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), the embassy said in a press release to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

Sheikh Ahmad's visit aims at "strengthening the relations with Vietnam in the areas of oil and energy as well as updating the joint project in Thanh Hoa province in central Vietnam between Kuwaiti, Vietnamese and two Japanese companies to build the Nghi Son refinery and petrochemical complex," it said.

During this visit, he will hold talks with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and some senior officials of Petrovietnam, in order to consolidate the cooperation between Petrovietnam and KPC through KPI and Kuwait Petroleum Exploration Company," the embassy said.
