AMMAN, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- Kuwait, along with 17 Arab states, is partaking in the 17th Arab school games held in Jordan till September.
The games, which began Thursday, included several sports events and competitions similar to the Olympic Games.
Several Kuwaiti officials affirmed that teh Gulf state's teams participating in the event would work hard to achieve success and medals.
Technical director of the athletics team Adel Nasser Khalifa told KUNA that 18 student athletes would be partaking in the track and field event, saying that the team was aiming at a good performance.
Kuwait's team football coach Ahmad Haydar said, on his part, that the games provided a chance for Arab student athletes to acquire some experience and become more aware of how to compete at a regional level, revealing that the football competitions were divided into two groups, with Kuwait being in the first.
Coaches of the Kuwaiti basketball and swimming teams, Abdulrahman Nashi and Hamad Daher Karam, both affirmed respectively the importance of the Arab school games, saying the teams would do their best to reflect the developing level of Kuwait sports.
