KUWAIT: The employees and personnel of the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) distributed Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) awards to a number of its employees who contributed to the health, safety and environment of the company. The event was held at the Hilton Resort Hotel in Mangaf attended by the representative of KOC Chairman Faroukh Hussein Al-Zanki. The HSE award is given annually to outstanding employees/personnel, their children and contractors who have been significantly contributed to the safety, health and environment within the KOC Company and the Kuwait populace as a whole.
The award was introduced 10 years back to promote a positive atmosphere and to make the HSE issue a habit and on top of their priorities. In a statement read out by KOC Chairman's representative, Al-Zanki stressed, "We are committed to meeting the challenges, whatever it may be, in order to provide a safe working environment not just within the vicinity of KOC but in the country as a whole. Our faith in these endeavors is deeply rooted in our approach to sustainable development."
Al-Zanki remembered several achievements in regards to HSE and lauded the committee who have been working hard to achieve KOC goals. He congratulated the HSE committee for what he referred as the biggest achievement during the past year; the opening of wastewater disposal plant, which he noted could help reduce the impact to environment.
Awards were carefully selected to meet the KOC objectives including local environment and health regulations, improvements in the technical integrity and efficiency, increased in general HSE awareness and defensive driving.
A group headed by Abdullah Al-Azmi received the highest recognition for 'Installation of Gas and Condensate Interconnection'. Imad Azzam, Ali Al-Kandari, Yousef Al-Hamoud and Louis Thiagraj were among the awardees.
KOC also recognized people who helped implement measures to improving the Rig Environment and Enhancement of Safety Features. It also recognized people and subjects associated with the Urea breath test study, the new colonoscopy protocol, the replacement gathering center, integrity management at west Kuwait, early resumption of production post, fire safety, defensive driving, work permit display board, program development of positive HSE and office awareness problems. Awards were also distributed to the contractors, best drivers and to winners of an environment-painting contest.
