According to a spokesperson "Kia Service is continuously developing the skill and knowledge of their technicians by providing various training opportunities both in-house and overseas. RIA is motivating their workforce to upgrade their skill in order to enhance the quality of service."
Recently RIA technicians won the silver medal in the highly contested Kia Skills World Cup. "This is part of our tradition," remarked the spokesperson, "Our previous wins include the 'Excellent Skill Award' and the 'Skills Gold Medal. " The Kia World Skills Cup is a contest held every two years by Kia Motors Corporation. Some of the main participating countries in the Skills World Cup are the USA, Canada, Germany, England, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The core objective of the skill competition is to 'Fix It Right the First Time' (FRFT), which is one of the most important factors in increasing customer satisfaction. The event helps technicians to train themselves to world-class levels and deepen their understanding of Kia models.
The skill and knowledge levels of the technicians were evaluated based on the following parameters -- trouble shooting diagnosis method, Trouble finding efficiency, finding problems within time, precautionary measures and safety aspects. There was a written test to evaluate the theoretical knowledge held for technicians. Finally, the skill levels of technicians were evaluated in engine, chassis and electrical aggregates by using the 'simulation method'.
