Acting Mayor of Khamis Mushayt Jubran Mubarak Al-Qahtani said his municipality has recently formed an action team to withdraw all vehicles from the Al-Darb market's parking lot where the owners display supplies of fruits and vegetables from unknown sources. "The action team consists of members from the services' agency, management of comprehensive control and the support of the preventive security department," Al-Qahtani said. The items are displayed on dilapidated vehicles which the municipality has seized until their owners claim them.
Punitive action will be taken against the owners of the vehicles, according to the acting mayor. Over 30 vehicles of different types and more than 4 tons of vegetables and fruits from unknown sources have been confiscated. The owners will be fined as a deterrent for them to discontinue the business. The undersecretary of municipal services said the team was also tracking down owners of motor cycles in compliance with the directions of the acting mayor. Further investigations by the team found that these motorcycles are being rented inside the park located to the north of Al-Eid Mosque. The owners have been warned against coming back to the area.
