JAKARTA (Petra) - The Jordan Phosphate Mining Company (JPMC) on Sunday signed an agreement with Indonesia's Petrokimia Gresik to set up a joint venture for annually producing 200,000 tonnes of phosphoric acid. In a statement, the JPMC said the company will provide the Indonesian firm with its needs of raw materials under a long-term contract while the final products of the project will be marketed in the Indonesian market.

The project is in line with JPMC's long-range strategy to secure markets for its output, mainly phosphate and fertilisers, amid the increasing competition among main phosphate produces across the world, the statement said. The project will commence as soon as the two companies conclude the required feasibility studies. The agreement was signed by JPMC Chairman and CEO Walid Kurdi and Petrokimia President Arifin Tasrif.
