AMMAN -- The Jordan Telecom Group (JTG) will provide Tala Bay Resort in Aqaba with the most advanced and the state-of-the-art voice and digital services under an agreement signed on Saturday with the Jordan Projects for Tourism Development (JPTD).
The deal, signed by JTG President Laurent Mialet and the company's CEO Naser Khaldi, enables JPTD and investors in the Tala Bay project to access full benefits of modern telecom services, including the undertaking of necessary civil work, cable laying and networks connectivity.
The first resort of its kind in the Kingdom, the 2,700-dunum Tala Bay is built on a two-kilometre strip of un-spoilt beach. In its final shape, it will include more than 1,500 residential units, five hotels, boutiques, restaurants, a golf course and an aqua park.
After signing the deal, Mialet stressed the group's endeavour to develop the ICT infrastructure in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone due to its importance in enhancing the national economy.
Mialet said the deal will help provide the infrastructure at Tala Bay Resort with JTG's modern telecom services and technological solutions at international standards.
"Jordan Telecom, in its new existence as an integrated operator, has enhanced its capabilities in offering and providing the services that merge between telecommunications and information," said Dissa Jaimouka, director operational marketing, in a statement received by The Jordan Times. Such services are made available for both residential and business customers, she added.
Khaldi said the deal seeks to promote local and foreign investments in the tourism sector, generally in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and particularly in Tala Bay Resort. It endeavours to rehabilitate housing units, hotels and commercial centres with telecom services and technological solutions, which will upgrade the project's level and help the company promote it well in the next few years.
JPTD was established in June 2001 by a group of investors. Later, it became a public holding entity with a view to build comprehensive and high standards resorts.
Jordan Telecom has earlier this month announced its adoption of integrated operator concept amongst its different subsidiaries. Activities provided by Jordan Telecom, Wanadoo, MobileCom and e-Dimension have all come together under one umbrella, which is the JT Group integrated administrative structure.
