MUSCAT -- A grand felicitation ceremony was held recently by ISACA Muscat Chapter in honour of the top scorers and other successful candidates who sat the December 2005 exams of Certified Information and Systems Auditors (CISA) and Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) examination from Muscat Chapter.

Ahmed Sulaiman al Maimani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry for Administrative & Financial Affairs and Regions Affairs, presented the awards and certificates. Speaking on the occasion, Al Maimaini stressed that IT was a major force in business and government, and he exhorted those present to obtain professional qualifications for better opportunities in today's job market.

There was also a presentation on 'The Profession of Management for IT professionals' by Vivek Albuquerque, CEO of Louis Allen International (India). Keeping the audience captivated throughout his presentation, he mentioned that careers usually start with acquiring technical skills and as the job demands increase, employees obtain more technical skills. However, more management and technical skills are required to become a manager or CEO, he said.

Membership is comprised of all levels of IT professionals -- executives, management and practitioners -- all of whom are dedicated to the promotion of advanced IT governance, control and assurance practices.

ISACA's Muscat Chapter is sponsored by the College of Banking and Financial Studies. The chapter conducts regular professional seminars. It also conducts refresher courses for students pursuing the CISA and CISM courses.
