Iraq has bought some 400,000 metric tons of U.S., Russian, Australian, Romanian and Kazakh wheat from a tender closed May 13, a senior official with the state-run Iraqi Grain Board said Thursday.
The official gave no details on suppliers and prices.
He said the purchased wheat would be delivered in July and August.
Iraq consumes between 3.5 million to 4 million tons of wheat a year; depending mainly on importation.
