Muscat: An Omani minister praised the technical education imparted by the Indian government for Omani students at the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day observed on Sunday at the Indian Embassy lawns.

In his address, Oman's Minister of Manpower Dr Juma Bin Ali Al Juma was highly appreciative of the ITEC Programme of the Government of India. "Under this programme Omani nationals are being trained in India in various courses and that also helps enhance their skills in different fields," the Omani minister said.

Under the ITEC Programme since 1964, 156 countries in Asia, Africa, East Europe, Central & Latin America, Pacific and Small Island countries are invited to share in the Indian development experience.

"India spends about 500millionrupees(Dh46.65million) annually on ITEC activities," said Anil Wadhwa, Indian ambassador to Oman.
