AMMAN (JT) - His Majesty King Abdullah and Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei discussed on Tuesday means to foster bilateral ties and issues of mutual concern, especially those related to the Muslim world.
In the meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan, King Abdullah emphasised the importance of intensifying cooperation within the Islamic world to serve the interests of the Muslim nation and enhance its unity and solidarity in the face of various challenges it is facing.
The two leaders expressed satisfaction at the advanced levels of bilateral relations, especially in the economic and commercial fields, underlining their eagerness to further bolster these relations.
His Majesty also briefed Bolkiah on the latest developments in the Middle East, particularly the ongoing efforts to bring about peace and stability by relaunching serious negotiations to end the Palestinian-Israeli conflict within a regional context based on the two-state solution.
Bolkiah said he appreciated the King's efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East, stressing his country's support for these efforts and determination to foster solidarity among Islamic countries.
King Abdullah is scheduled to attend today the 2009 International Defence Exhibition (BRIDEX) in Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Ambassador to Jordan Dato Paduka Haj Mohammad Daud said late last week.
Held between August 12 and 15, BRIDEX, the premier defence and security event in Southeast Asia, will be held this year with the participation of the world's leading manufacturers and suppliers of defence security equipment and systems from across the entire supply chain, the diplomat said.
