Dubai, Nov. 26th, 2007 (WAM) - Dubai-based House of Equipment LLC. has won a Dhs20m contract to provide tower cranes for construction of the Emirate's Dhs4.6bn Meydan racing, tourist and leisure complex.

The company made the announcement from its exhibition stand at the Big 5 PMV as the major new construction industry event entered its second day at Airport Expo Dubai. The contract sees House of Equipment supplying twelve, 80 metre jib Yongmao tower cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 18 to 24 tones, from Chinese manufacturer Fushun Yongmao Ltd.

The landmark Meydan development is the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. It is transforming the Nad Al Sheba racecourse, already home to the Dubai World Cup, the world's richest horse race.

Spanning 76 million square feet and featuring state-of-the-art dirt and turf tracks, Meydan features a world-class 55,000 to 60,000 capacity grandstand spread over one kilometre. The development also includes training tracks and stables, a Goldolphin gallery and museum, luxury hotel, restaurants and entertainment clubs.

"Naturally we're delighted to have won such a valuable contract for this landmark project," said Waiel Manfalouti, General Manager of House of Equipment, speaking at the Big 5 PMV.

"We were competing with six major suppliers and were judged on both technical and commercial aspects. The Yongmao Tower Cranes have CE approval, meaning they meet all EU requirements, and the CE mark was a key reason why we won the contract."House of Equipment was established in 2004 as a subsidiary of Arabtec Holding PJSC. The company has a strong track record and in the last year sold 150 Tower Cranes worth approximately Dhs 125 million in the different countries that include UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Jordan, and Pakistan.

Earlier this year, Dubai Civil Engineering bought Dhs35m worth of Yongmao Tower Cranes for use in constructing prestigious projects in Dubai Marina development, Dubai Industrial City, Al Quoz Staff accommodation, Ras Al Khaimah, Bahrain, and Jordan Amman Gate Project.

House of Equipment is among 240 manufacturers and suppliers of plant, machinery, construction vehicles and equipment from 24 countries which are using the Big 5 PMV as a platform to meet key buyers from across the region and overseas.

It is Dubai's biggest ever single sector launch event, and is taking place at a time when the Middle East construction boom has reached new heights, with 3,400 projects estimated to be worth in excess of $2.4 trillion now underway across the region.

The event covers more than 30,000 sq metres of exhibition space including a dedicated outdoor arena where large construction equipment, including Yongmao's eight tones crane, are on display.

The exhibition features five national pavilions with representation from Germany, Austria, Italy, Korea and France.

Supporting the exhibition is a comprehensive seminar programme designed to educate trade professionals on topical industry issues. House of Equipment's General Manager Waiel Manfalouti will be speaking tomorrow about the selection and location of tower cranes in a session dedicated to tall buildings, including a case study of tower cranes used for the Burj Dubai.

Today's seminar covers equipment management and maintenance, and improving productivity and performance with speakers from ASV, Inc., FMSI and Al-Futtaim Auto & Machinery Company.

The Big 5 PMV has the support of key international organisations including UBIFRANCE - French Foreign Trade Council, UK's Construction Products Association and AEM, Association of Equipment Manufacturers.
