MUSCAT -- Following on from their highly successful seminar on North Safety Products, held at Sohar Beach Hotel, Gulf Services & Industrial Supplies (GSIS) Company LLC, held a similar seminar that featured a host of top quality safety items from North Safety Products, at the Al Falaj Hotel, Muscat, yesterday. Reflecting the increasingly high level of importance companies attach to Health, Safety and the Environment (HSE), this first-of-its-kind seminar-cum-safety exhibit, attracted many of the country's major players, from within the industry. Company representatives were able to hear and learn from the experts of North Safety Products Europe B V about the many advantages of their safety products and equipment.
Moreover, many of the products were on display and visitors were able to get a practical insight on how the products work, as well as note the quality aspect of the products and equipment. North Safety Products on display included eyewear protection -- inclusive of prescription safety spectacles, safety glasses, goggles and accessories, face and welding masks, hearing protection mufflers, respiratory protection, head protection helmets, an assortment of hand protection gloves, fall protection harness, protective clothing, traffic safety products, controlled environment products, first aid products, electrical safety products and protective footwear, besides many more.
Speaking to the Observer on the sidelines of the event, Leon Klapwijk, Managing Director of North Safety Products Europe B V, noted, the whole seminar has provided the opportunity for us to be in touch with the end users. Although they are in touch with our distributors, we do need to understand the demands and needs of the end user.
In addition to this, he said, it also allows for the importance of HSE, which has become more and more important in this region, to be known. In this respect, the MD noted that there is a further requirement for the setting up of training and education facilities in order to facilitate this. "The event has gone very well with a good turnout and generation of much interest. It has been beyond our expectations. I am very positive about this whole seminar," Klapwijk said.
C J Prakesh, General Manager, GSIS, was also of the view that the event has received a very good response. He said, there are many happy customers amongst the attendees of this seminar. He pointed out that GSIS is the biggest supplier of safety products in the Sultanate. That is why we considered to hold such a seminar, added the GM.
