TUNIS - The value of textile-clothing exports reached, at the end of last July, over 500 million dinars, up 10.8% compared with the same period last year, according to the monthly analysis of the situation published by the Technical Textile Centre (CETTEX).
Textile exports posted a 26.3% rise in value last July compared with last year, and those of clothing increased by 9.1% in the same period.
The most noteworthy rise in exports was recorded in swimming suits (over 41%), tee-shirts (over 15.3%) and men's ready-made clothes (over 9.5%).
The sector's imports also posted an increase of 17.9% for a value of 300 million dinars.
By products, denim fabric imports recorded the highest growth (over 40.4%), followed by thread (over 32.1%), textile fibres (over 24.7%), and other fabrics exclusive of denim (over 13.7%) and fabrics for technical use (over 8.6%).
According to the same source, a growth of imports was recorded in the recent months, particularly from Turkey, Spain and China.
