The global wood furniture market is poised for solid growth over the coming years and is expected to top $74 billion by 2023, while the woodworking machinery market worldwide is likely to surge by $961.6 million, said an expert ahead of a major industry event, Dubai WoodShow (DWS).
The leading platform for wood and woodworking machinery in the Middle East will run from March 16 to 18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, featuring six country pavilions that will cater to more than 7,000 visitors this year.
The 15th edition of the DWS is being held in conjunction with Dubai International Furniture, Accessories and Components (DIFAC), said the organisers, Strategic Exhibitions & Conference.
It will showcase the best products and innovations of top international wood and woodworking machinery companies in Russia, Turkey, America, Canada, China and Gabon, it added.
In the US, the wood products serve as a vital contributor to its economy with the American wood product companies generating $210 billion in products each year.
Russia, which owns the largest amount of timber in the world, is also one of the top five exporters of wood construction materials. There are also several prominent builders and suppliers in the country that provide cutting-edge technologies when it comes to woodworking, furniture manufacturing and utilising wood waste.
In Turkey, wood processing has a vital role in boosting its economic growth. The country offers diverse products such as logs, veneers, sawn timber, panels, flooring, doors and door frames, moulding, windows and window frames, and other construction components and accessories, said the organisers.
Canada is currently increasing more opportunities for the wood industry to flourish in their fight against climate change by developing wooden skyscrapers in a number of cities across the country.
China is the world’s largest furniture exporter and the wood furniture industry is a crucial part of its economic development as well.
In Gabon, 80% of the country is surrounded with tropical rainforests, which makes timber its second highest export. The country is also known in manufacturing and exporting high quality veneer.
On the upcoming event, Roderick Wiles, the director of American Hardwood Export Council in Africa, Middle East, India, and Oceania, said: "DWS has become a regular feature on the calendar of our US hardwood exporting members and they see it as their annual opportunity to connect with existing contacts in the Gulf and wider Middle East region, as well as to make new ones."
"We hope to satisfy our members needs in providing a platform for them to showcase their products to as wide as audience as possible," he stated.
“Each of the 17 companies in our pavilion is an exporter of American hardwood lumber or veneer, or both. To potential buyers/importers, visiting the American Hardwood Pavilion at the expo is the best way to make direct contact with these suppliers and to see their products, added Wiles.
Renato Manganelli, the managing director of Biesse Middle East, dubbed it as the most ideal exhibition for its business in the Middle East region.
"There are a huge number of visitors coming from the GCC countries, thus we consider DWS as the right platform to participate in. In this edition, Biesse is proud to present the routing machine solution with an all-new technology like no other, for the application of edges on shaped and linear panels, the Ray Force System," he added.
Dawood Al Shezawi, the president of the committee of Woodshow Global, said: "Furniture will bring in huge gains adding substantial force to global growth as it’s primed to reach more than $2.9 billion by 2025."
"Thus, this is the most opportune time for stakeholders in wood, woodworking machinery and furniture accessories industries to take advantage of this event to explore abundant opportunities waiting for them," he stated.
DWS is one of the three events under the WoodShow Series that offers the ideal opportunity for local, regional and international companies all over the globe to showcase the best wood and woodworking machinery products, furniture accessories and the latest technologies, and establish connections with top buyers, traders and investors, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
