Tunisia - Overall electricity production dropped 2% until the end of November 2022 to 18,154 GWh, it emerges from a monthly report released Tuesday by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy.

The country resorted to importation from Algeria to meet 12% of national demand.

The Tunisian Electricity and Gas Corporation (STEG).still has the lion's share with 95% of national production until the end of November. Electricity produced from natural gas (STEG + IPP) dipped 2%, while power produced from renewable energies stood at 1.9% (taking into consideration the ouput of power stations only).

Electricity sales surged 7% in comparison with late November 2021. High voltage sales fell 6% whereas those of medium voltage posted a 6% rise.

Industrialists remain the biggest consumers with 60% of high and medium voltage demand until the end of November.

The majority of sectors saw their electricity purchases edge up, mainly tourism (+52%) and textile and clothing (+8%).
