Cairo –  The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has invested EGP 1.6 billion in upgrading and enhancing the efficiency of electricity networks in Qena Governorate from July 2014 until June 2020.

The electricity upgrade plan in Qena Governorate, which has about 901,000 subscribers, was financed by a loan from the State Treasury from July 2017 until June 2020 at a cost of EGP 615 million, according to a statement on Wednesday.

The plan included the replacement of medium-voltage underground cables at total lengths of 39.861 kilometres (km).
