Cairo – Mubasher: The Egyptian minister of housing Assem El-Gazzar announced the commencement of construction works in the third phase of a water purification plant in 6th of October City at a capacity of 400,000 cubic metres per day and an investment cost of EGP 1.5 billion.

Spanning over an area of 28.6 feddans, the third phase of the plant will include a water tank at a capacity of 100,000 cubic metres, El-Gazzar added in a statement on Sunday.

The new plant will serve 6th of October City and its neighbouring areas, he revealed.

Currently, the potable water demands of the 6th of October City are estimated at 800,000 cubic metres per day, with expectations to rise to 1 million cubic metres per day by 2021, he remarked.
