Cairo –  The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy has invested EGP 340 million in upgrading and raising the efficiency of the electricity networks in Matrough and the North Coast in fiscal year 2019/2020.

The number of electricity subscribers in Matrough and the North Coast reached about 260,000, including 120,000 with pre-paid electric meters, according to a statement on Monday.

Medium-voltage overhead power lines reached 2,000 kilometres (km) in length, while the length of medium-voltage underground cables registered 3,000 km.

In addition, the length of low-voltage overhead power lines amounted to 2,500 km and low-voltage underground cables reached 1,200 km.

The upgrade has led to reducing the outage duration and improving the service provided to subscribers.
