CAIRO (Zawya Dow Jones)--Egypt's central bank may offer U.S. dollar certificates of deposit to the Arab country's expatriates in a number of European countries including the United Kingdom, in a program aimed at boosting foreign currency revenues by $1 billion, daily Egyptian newspaper Al Masry Al Youm reports Sunday, citing an unnamed central bank official.

An Egyptian delegation, made up of officials from the central bank and the National Bank of Egypt, is also in Saudi Arabia to promote the dollar certificates among Egyptians living in the kingdom.

The CBE official said the certificates, previously offered in a number of Gulf states, will not be sold in Egypt.
