Egypt is building 17 smart cities that will be totally reliant on technology, reported Arab News, citing the Egyptian minister of communication and IT.

The government has set an ambitious target to provide internet access to more than 58 million people within the next three years covering 25,000 villages across Egypt, stated Amr Talaat, while speaking at the Global Manufacturing and Industrialization Summit in Dubai.

In addition to this, Egypt is working on several projects to increase the broadband coverage to far-flung areas in the country, he added.
