Dubai 1 Feb.,2005 (WAM)--Dubai and Frankfurt cities signed todaya Memorandum of Understanding to enhance bilateral relations betweenthem through reciprocal cooperation in economic, commercial, tourism,medicineand future technologies.Gasim Sultan, director general of Dubai Municipalitysigned on behalf of Dubai City and Petra Roth, Mayor of Frankfurt, signedfor Frankfurt City.

Sultan said that the MoU was an initial step toward openingnew horizons of cooperation and establishing stronger ties between bothcities. He hoped that negotiations due to take place between the twosides would result in a partnership agreement that is expected to enhanceelaborate investments in the context of municipal activities. He saidthe MoU was an objective of Dubai municipality to forge extended relationswith major global cities.

On her part Petra Roth said that the agreement wouldhelp in creating unique relations between the two cities and enhanceexchange of ideas and capabilities, adding that a delegation representingDubai municipality would soon visit Frankfurt to conduct more negotiationsalong those lines. She said that students, tourists and businessmen fromDubai will visit Frankfurt and vice versa. She said that the German directorsof companies accompanying her had expressed their interest to investin Dubai, adding that UAE businessmen were also welcome to do businessin Frankfurt.

Roth thanked Dubai Government and Sheikh Hamdan binRashid Al Maktoum , Deputy Dubai Ruler, Minister of Finance and Industryand Chairman of Dubai Municipality for developing Dubai City in all aspectswhich subsequently led to its tangible growth and affluence of its citizens.
