Muscat - Comex 2013 was inaugurated by H E Sheikh Khalid bin Omar bin Said al Marhoon, Minister of Civil Service, at the Oman International Exhibition Centre on Monday.

Organised by Oman International Trade and Exhibition (OITE) and held under the patronage of e.oman, the IT and telecom show will run till March 29 under the theme eTransformation.

More than 100 exhibitors, from the government and private sectors, are participating this year, including from countries like the US, India, France, the UK, UAE, Singapore, and Egypt.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, H E Abdullah bin Salem al Salmi, executive president of the Capital Market Authority (CMA), who was among the dignitaries at the inauguration, said that everybody is slowly shifting towards a paperless environment. "Everybody will benefit from the new technologies at Comex. It is definitely important for capital markets, regulators and end users to be able to place orders by electronic means."
The Comex Business pavilion showcases latest tech products and solutions like 4G technologies, cloud-computing solutions, social-networking tools, and telecommunication applications, to name a few.

Over 30 government institutions are showcasing their latest in eServices. The first location-based mobile engagement service in GCC, Buzz technology, introduced at Comex 2013 by ING Webtech, saw visitors accessing latest Comex updates on their smartphones via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi services that were available at the exhibition.
