DOHA: Barwa Real Estate yesterday announced the region's first of its kind ambitious Baraha Motor City, a QR2bn project which will house "one-stop-shop" centre of all vehicle services and related facilities.

Top Barwa officials unveiled the salient features of the project that will be developed over the next five years within a 1.8 million sq m area located about 14km Southwest of Doha International Airport during a forum organised by Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Al Sharq Village and Spa.

Ibrahim Fakhroo, Barwa Group Director for Real Estate Investments Qatar, said the project will meet the growing demand from the local industry for a complete "has it all" vehicle services centre under one wide area.

Fakhroo said once the project will be completed, the Baraha Motor City will be the car and automotive centre that will help solve the problems of traffic congestions as a result of over demand for cars with 10,000 new units added every month.

"This is an integrated solution to the local automotive industry," Fakhroo said.

He also noted the project will provide spacious parking lots for light and heavy-duty trucks considered as the largest in the world.

To be developed will be car showrooms for both new and second-hand vehicles, service maintenance workshops and spare parts shops, modification and accessories shops, driving schools and simulation centres, a huge garage for the sales of heavy and light vehicles, vehicle registration centres and the general services facilities including medical clinics, police departments and mosques.

Abdullah Saleh Hiji, Acting Project Manager at Barwa, said the project will bring about complete solutions for vehicles starting from processing on both commercial and private to all kinds of services. He noted it is important for project developers and stakeholders to have a seamless flow of traffic and the showrooms more visible and accessible to an increasing number of car owners in Qatar.

The project will be developed based on a pre-concept design by a reputed international designing firm, however, Barwa officials said showroom owners will have the freedom to design their shops that suit the taste and preference of their customers.
