MUSCAT -- An event to celebrate the success of Omanis in gaining and advancing their membership of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), the global body for professional accountants, took place in Muscat on Monday.
Guests, including leading employers and tuition providers in Oman, were welcomed to the Hotel InterContinental Muscat by Mohammed Sajid Khan, Head of Business Development -- Education, Middle East.
Alongside new members, Omani professional accountants who have become Fellows of the ACCA in the past year, having completed five years of high-level financial work -- and can carry the designation FCCA -- were also recognised.
Chief Guest Dr Ashraf Nabhan al Nabhani, Dean College of Banking & Financial Studies congratulated new members and fellows. The event heard success stories from new ACCA Fellow Mohammed Atif Rafique, Finance Consultant with the Oman Information Technology Authority and from new member Mohammed Taleb al Busaidy, Accounts Officer at Sohar Industrial Port Company.
Earlier, Stuart Dunlop, Head of ACCA Middle East, had given the keynote address, outlining the vital work of professional accountants.
Mohammed Sajid Khan said: "We were delighted to be able to hold this event to mark the achievements of individuals who have achieved membership or fellowship with ACCA. It was noticeable that the event was attended by a range of senior employers and it is heartening to see the importance which they place on having well trained finance professionals who are able to help drive the economy forward.
The work undertaken by the tuition providers and the outstanding support of employers and government is ensuring that more Omanis are succeeding in gaining the ACCA qualification, and are then progressing to membership and to the senior status of Fellow of ACCA, and we thank them for the work they do in this regard."
