RIYADH - The latest market opportunities and trends  in plastics & petrochemicals as well as in Printing & Packaging  industries will be showcased at the upcoming twin exhibitions to be held in Riyadh next week.

Under the patronage of the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Tawfig Fawzan Al-Rabiah, Saudi Plast & Petrochem 2014 and Saudi Print & Pack 2014 (Saudi PPPP 2014), the largest plastics, petrochemical, printing, and packaging trade fairs in the Middle East, will open on Feb. 17 to unveil latest market opportunities and updates. Held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, the event runs until Feb. 20, hosting over 520 local and international exhibitors from 27 countries, including Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Switzerland, Syria, Netherlands, Turkey, UAE, US, Thailand, Taiwan and UK. It will also feature 10 national pavilions supported by leading industrial entities.

Occupying more than 20,000 square meters of prime exhibition space, the premier industrial exhibition will serve as a platform for participating companies to showcase their latest technologies, top products and services, machinery, equipment, and supplies in the petrochemical, plastics, printing, and packaging industries. Saudi Polymers is the trade fair's platinum sponsor, while Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and Tasnee are the diamond sponsors and Saudi Printing and Packaging Company is the Silver Sponsor.

Fahad Al Athel, Deputy General Manager, Riyadh Exhibitions Company (REC), said: "Saudi Print & Pack 2014 and Saudi Plastics & Petrochem 2014 will serve as an excellent opportunity for national and international companies to highlight the latest market trends and services in their respective industries, with an ultimate aim of achieving progress and development in these sectors. Saudi Plastics & Petrochem - the 11th International Plastics and Petrochem Exhibition and Plast & Pack - the 11th International Printing and Packaging Technologies will gather engineers, industrialists, entrepreneurs and businessmen to experience the latest products and solutions firsthand.

Kamil Al Jawhari, Project Manager of Saudi Plastics & Petrochem and Saudi Print & Pack at Riyadh Exhibitions Company, told the Saudi Gazette ahead of the event, that both exhibitions "will showcase the latest technologies, machinery, equipment and supplies in the petrochemical, plastics, printing and packaging industries in the regional market. The Saudi Print will offer a wide range of state-of-the-art products, including prepress equipment, stitching machines, buffing machines, folding and cutting machines, prepress software, digital direct printing techniques, silkscreen printing techniques, audit equipment, paper and printing supplies. The Saudi Pack will feature a variety of industry offerings such as filling machines, packaging machinery, consumer goods canning and packaging, design and manufacturing services, packaging equipment, paper production equipment, food packaging equipment, and packaging material."

Moreover, he said The Saudi Plastics will showcase a variety of raw materials, basic chemicals and compounds, plastic injection molding systems, shaping and forming applications, medical-use products and plastic pipes.

The Saudi Petrochem, on the other hand, he said "is poised to feature manufacturing and processing equipment, chemical engineering software, petrochemical plant machinery, safety, security and environment-friendly equipment, maintenance and processing systems, and control and lab tools and equipment."

Al Jawhari also revealed that several participants "are willing to invest in this leading industrial gathering to organize industry-oriented events relating to the diverse areas they intend to showcase. One of these events is the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) Conference which aims to discuss a variety of technical issues on the latest technologies, products and trends of the segments in which the company specializes. The conference will gather leading specialists of wide expertise and knowledge in the local industry and market."

Expounding on the importance of the gathering, he explained that foreign government companies and entities realize the importance of Saudi Plastics & Petrochem 2014 and Saudi Print & Pack 2014 trade fairs as the top two industrial events and ideal platforms to access the growing Saudi market that is rich in lucrative business opportunities. "We have been able in the past 20 years to effectively contribute to transforming the local market and attracting foreign entities to invest in the market, thanks to REC team efforts and access to leading decision makers in the industry. In light of the local economic growth and perseverance against global economic crises, we are seeing a tremendous turnout from foreign participants to take part in this exhibition, as evident in their continuous interest and commitment to improve their engagement in one edition after the other," he noted.

Based on the growing interest from participating parties and companies in the event, and the high pre-registration rates and received inquiries, in addition to the successful proceedings of the previous editions, Al Jawhari forecast that the current edition will see wide turnout from industry specialties and other related segments. "This edition is expected to achieve new high records in number of visitors which reached a total of 21,500 visitors from Saudi Arabia and other regional and international countries in the last edition of the show," he added.

Established 20 years ago, the Saudi Plastics & Petrochem and Saudi Print & Pack trade fairs are designed to underline the great potential of the industrial market in Saudi Arabia.

Asked about development plans for the exhibition in the coming years,  Al Jawhari said "we, at Riyadh Exhibition Company, spare no efforts to develop our portfolio of exhibitions and events to cater to emerging changes and trends in local and regional markets.
