DAMMAM — The Saudi Embassy in Prague has warned Saudis planning to travel to the Czech Republic for tourism or medical treatment against taking their servants with them.

The embassy also warned travelers against carrying handbags in public places and advised them to always use the official taxi for transportation.

The warning came with the approach of the annual vacation when thousands of Saudis travel to the Czech capital for treatment and tourism, Al-Hayat newspaper reported.

In addition, some 180 Saudi students study in Czech universities.

The embassy asked Saudi families to take their domestic servants with them only in extreme cases. The warning came after growing cases of domestic helps running away, leaving their employers in trouble and putting the embassy in an embarrassing situation with the police.

The embassy has already received a warning from the police regarding the matter.

The embassy asked visiting families not to carry handbags with them because they might fall victims to purse-snatching gangs. It urged them to use official taxis for travel inside the city and to note down the plate number before getting inside as a precaution.

The embassy also warned people against changing money in the street and said businesses in the Czech Republic will not accept euro, but will only deal in the local currency koruna (CZK).
