Marriot Dead Sea Goes Green and Saves 67% with Solar Heating System
May 31, 2009 - With the need to adopt Green practices, the Jordan Valley Marriott Dead Sea Resort and Spa inaugurated today its solar project, the largest of its kind in the world, as a measure to improve environmental performance, improve its services, and reduce its cost.The Solar System, designed and installed by Millennium Energy Industries , a leader in practical solar solutions implemented a system that integrates seamlessly with the existing boilers, and has already, in the first week of its operation recorded 67% savings on its diesel energy bill.
The solar matrix is comprised of 275 evacuated tube collectors dispersed on the hotel's roof. These collectors have high efficiency during the summer and winter. Millennium designed, installed and commissioned the system in eight weeks during Hotel's normal operation without any interruption to hotel guests. The solar system, which is expected to pay back for itself in less than four years (at current diesel price levels) and last for at least 25 years, will now serve as a model for others to follow.
