"Mobision will showcase The First Commercial Launch of Digital Live TV Over Mobile in Arabcom 2009"
MOBISION will be participating in the 11th Arab International Telecom Development Summit for Arab States which is being held in Beirut - Lebanon on May 28 and 29 in order to demonstrate its ground breaking innovative business model dedicated to the multicasting of live video over connected and unconnected handheld devices.
MOBISION, part of the Communication Entertainment Technologies Group (CET), and sister company to Iraqi television giant Alsumaria TV, will be demonstrating its novel comprehensive solution for the television-over-mobile industry. The service is to be commercially launched in Iraq at the end of the month and boasts the world's largest bouquet of DVB-H channels. MOBISION is already broadcasting in several major Iraqi cities to a variety of certified handheld devices.
Since the birth of this industry, uptake has been relatively stagnant due to the slow rate of global deployment of Digital Video Broadcast over Handheld (DVB-H). This slow rate was largely attributed to the existence of several business models, all of which were bottle-necked by the GSM network providers. This increased video-hungry-consumer costs and had negative effects on the industry's growth.
DVB-H is a standard that has been approved by the European Telecommunication Standards Industry (ETSI) as the broadcasting standard of the future. Most European countries have already switched to Digital Video Broadcast. Mr. Roger Khater, Director of Technical Affairs further brings truth to the many circulating rumors: "unlike 3G or streaming technologies, using a DVB-H phone from major handset manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, ..., etc., can deliver up to 4 - 5 hours of viewership as opposed to traditional 3G which funnels battery power in an hour." Mr. Khater will be delivering a full technical overview of MOBISION's accomplishments.
