Amman - The University of Jordan (UJ) on Monday signed an agreement with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to develop hotel and tourism education at the university's branch in the southern port city of Aqaba.
The agreement aims to improve the faculty in financial and academic domains to help it become a model at regional and international levels. A specialized center for practical training would also be set up at the university.
UJ President Adel Tuwaisi underlined the importance of providing the labor market with qualified labor force that would enhance productivity and best use of resources.
USAID/Jordan Mission Director Kevin Rushing said the agency is keen to provide training and education to Jordanian tourism students.
