Dubai, United Arab Emirates: 31 May 2012 - Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry and operator of the Galileo and Worldspan platforms, has amalgamated its operations in the UAE and established a new regional hub office in Dubai that will function as the company's corporate headquarters for the Middle East and Africa.
Relocating from its former offices in Al Barsha and Dubai Silicon Oasis, Travelport's move to Concord Tower in Dubai Media City underscores the company's continued expansion drive since it established direct Galileo global distribution system (GDS) operations in the Middle East in 2009. Since then, the GDS provider has hired more than 100 staff to support its growing travel agency network across the region.
As part of the successful relocation effort, all of Travelport's Dubai-based employees have transferred to the company's new Media City office. The move also brings the company's training facilities - previously housed in Al Barsha - and its full-service helpdesk - formerly located at Silicon Oasis - all under one roof. As well as providing continued support to Galileo travel agents, the GDS provider is also now fully equipped to serve local Worldspan-connected travel agents.
Additionally, Travelport's corporate hub office in Dubai acts as an extension of its operations in Africa, where the GDS provider recently set-up a direct distribution network for travel agents in South Africa. Several key senior executives involved in developing the company's growth strategy and supporting the Galileo network in Africa are also based at the Travelport offices in Dubai Media City.
Altogether, Travelport's president and managing director for the Middle East and Africa, Rabih Saab believes that the company's new MEA headquarters will be a thriving hub of customer support and innovation, explaining: "By bringing together our local resources and capabilities, Travelport is able to better serve our valued travel agency customers and welcome them into an environment that unifies our talent, energy and innovation into one purposeful space."
