Dubai:  A public transport operator has just brought in-flight style entertainment system to the road by enhancing its bus services.

UAE residents travelling between Ajman and Dubai can now ride in much better comfort and convenience after the Ajman Transport Corporation upgraded its fleet and started offering free WiFi aboard its buses.

The new buses have also been fitted with screens for commuters to watch movies, enjoy music and even browse the Internet for free while on the road. They can also charge their mobile phones in case they run out of battery.

Although the experience has definitely improved for many long-distance public transport users since the service was first introduced a few weeks back, the bus fares have remained the same, according to Farooq Mukhtar, head of the transport systems section.

“What’s new about the service is that the buses are bigger and luxurious. Each passenger has his own monitor in front of him so he can watch a movie or listen to music,” Mukhtar told Gulf News.

The trip from Ajman to Dubai costs Dh15, while the return travel is Dh12.

The buses leave the main transport terminal in Al Musalla, Ajman and take passengers to the Al Rashidiya Metro station in Dubai.
