Abu Dhabi - As part of its mission to develop and enhance the best services in the ICT sector, the General Authority for Regulating the Telecommunications Sector (TRA) has participated in the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX). Occurring from 22 to 26 February 2015 in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), the UAE TRA will introduce an innovative car, which is built according to global standards as a radiation-detecting vehicle.
The TRA acquired a mobile monitoring station, equipped with a state of the art monitoring system, capable of monitoring spectrum from 20 MHz to 26.5 GHz. The advanced analyzing competences of the system emulate the rapid developments in telecommunications and wireless technologies around the world. The vehicle was assembled to unveil the latest policies and regulations put in place by the TRA, to manage and monitor the nation's frequency spectrum. As such, this will further influence the mechanisms that enforce safety and connectivity in all aspects of the telecommunications sector while promoting the prevention of harmful and intruding interferences from various sources.
"The UAE TRA has constantly administered the operation of guidelines for the effective use of frequencies in all situations, while improving the spectrum services provided. Through the creation of their new radiation-detecting vehicle, TRA are enforcing their role as a vital factor of defense and safety in the telecommunications and ICT industry. We are proud of their invention, which is not only contributing to the nation, but also highlights the UAE's initiatives on a global level," said H.E. Majed Al Mesmar, Deputy Director General, Telecom Sector, TRA.
IDEX is the only international defense exhibition and conference in the MENA region demonstrating the latest technology across land, sea and air sectors of defense. It is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and is organized by the IDEX LLC in association and with the full support of the UAE Armed Forces.
