Abu Dhabi: Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces said on Tuesday it is exiting from the Taj Palace Hotel Dubai, which is owned by Juma Al Majid Group, after a 14-year partnership.

After a mutual agreement between both parties, Taj Hotels handed back the Dubai property to Juma Al Majid Group on August 31, 2015, having run Taj Palace Hotel Dubai since 2001, Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces said in a statement.

It added that the Juma Al Majid Group has played an important role in the success of the hotel during the course of the partnership.

With the recent opening of the 296-room Taj Dubai, the Middle East continues to be of strategic importance to the group. The hotel, located in Downtown Dubai, comes as the UAE sees growth from tourist arrivals from India, with more Indian guests checking into the country’s hotels.

Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces is one of Asia’s largest hotel groups, comprising 96 hotels in 61 locations across the globe, including a presence in India, North America, United Kingdom, Africa, the Middle East, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Bhutan. Taj Hotels is part of the Indian conglomerate the Tata Group.
