Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development launches second phase of 'Tahdeeth'
Sharjah - Sharjah Department of Statistics and Community Development (DSCD) has announced that the data on 210,499 Emiratis has been revised as part of its ‘Tahdeeth’ project; an initiative that aims to update the data and information about Emirati families and individuals who were first surveyed in the Sharjah Census 2015.
The first phase of Tahdeeth, which was conducted from October 7 to November 6, updated the details of 127,531 Emirati individuals and their families in Sharjah. The second phase, which commenced November 7 and continues until December 15, is continuing the programme by reaching out to those residents it was unable to contact during phase one.
Up until November 22, DSCD’s Tahdeeth Call Centre had made 61,300 phone calls since the launch of the project. These have resulted in the updating of information of 144,231 Sharjah Emiratis, 18,701 Emiratis from other emirates who are residing in Sharjah and 47,457 non-Emiratis living with Emirati families in Sharjah.
During the second phase of Tahdeeth, the call centre is attempting to contact families who did not answer calls made during the first phase so have yet to have their information updated. The Tahdeeth team will also visit Emirati houses with the same objective, with visits conducted so far under the programme having resulted in the renewing of the data of 27,722 Emiratis.
“With the second phase of Tahdeeth close to completion, we can say that the project has so far been a resounding success, with the database of Sharjah’s citizens almost entirely updated. Since we launched the project last month, we have received an impressive response from citizens who have cooperated with fully us to update their information. This is attributed to the extensive coverage of the Tahdeeth project by local media, something that has contributed to promoting an awareness among the populace of the importance of census and data collection for the improvement of government services,” said Sheikh Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al Thani, Chairman of DSCD.
“Tahdeeth is in line with DSCD’s strategy to boost sustainable development and further the welfare of Emirati citizens in Sharjah. It facilitates the availability of precise and accurate information about the population, helping relevant government bodies to provide better services for residents. Tahdeeth also provides decision makers with the demographic information needed to launch development projects, in alignment with the directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah,” he added.
The DSCD Chairman thanked all those who have collaborated to ensure the success of the project that he said was aimed at achieving Sharjah’s comprehensive development goals and ensuring the wellbeing of its residents, both Emiratis and expatriates.
Al Thani urged Emirati families who have not yet updated their information to contact the department at their earliest convenience and provide copies of their civil records, Emirati IDs and tenancy contracts (as relevant) by calling 06 519 1789 or via WhatsApp on 056 508 6004, or by uploading these documents directly via the link: u.dscd.ae. He also urged everyone to cooperate with DSCD’s female staff members who will be scheduling visits to their residences to ensure the completion of the Tahdeeth project that aims to lead to the realisation of Sharjah’s development goals.
“DSCD is committed to maintaining the confidentiality and privacy of the data and information collected from citizens throughout all stages of the project, with data access restricted to authorised personnel only,” Al Thani stressed.
DSCD is a government entity that contributes effectively to the drive towards sustainable development adopted by Sharjah under the guidance of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and within the framework of the UAE national vision. In addition to its main responsibilities, DCSD conducts social research and surveys with the aim of improving community services and supporting Sharjah government's development strategies to ensure a sustainable future for present and future generations.
