JEDDAH: The Saudi Electricity Company is currently executing projects worth more than SR33 billion in Makkah region, its CEO Ali Al-Barrak said Monday.

He was briefing Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal on the company's achievements.

The CEO said more than SR12 billion had been allotted for the company in this year's general budget to implement new projects.

Al-Barrak said the Kingdom's annual power production reached 52,000MW, making it similar to developed economies.

"Riyadh, with an annual consumption of 12,000MW, tops all the cities in the Kingdom, followed by Jeddah which consumes about 7,000MW," he said.

The Kingdom's power generating capacity increases at an annual rate of 4,000MW, Al-Barrak pointed out.

SEC director in the region Abdul Moien Al-Sheikh was also present.

The gov. thanked Al-Barrak and wished more success to the company.
