The event tackles challenges of RTA's services to the business sector

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is all set for the launch of the first brainstorming session of the Government Innovation Lab in the second half of this month. The move aims to step up the efficiency & performance of RTA agencies in the light of the Guide prepared by the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation, and the directives of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, designating 2015 as a year of innovation. This drive has also been endorsed by the Cabinet chaired by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Ms. Laila Faridoon, Executive Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, and Chairperson of Innovation Strategy Committee at the RTA, said: "The first Government Innovation Lab revolves around RTA's services to the business sector with the aim of figuring out solutions to existing challenges of this field. The RTA has set about preparations for holding this event by the mid of this month to ensure it will be successful. Therefore the RTA calls upon all community segments to contribute ideas & suggestions to this Lab through the hashtag: (#BeInnovativeWithRTA) in a bid to enhance the quality of services offered to the business sector.

"Steps taken for holding the 1st Government Innovation Lab at the RAT included setting the objective of the Lab, setting up a work team, preparing the itinerary, working out contents, fixing the process of selecting participants from the RTA and beyond, and developing a media plan for engaging the largest possible number of entities whether through work sessions, social media channels, or other channels. A rehearsal session will be held to verify the progress of sessions to be held as planned for via the Organization Chart set in order to assess the accuracy & quality of all stages of the lab, and avail offer a platform for offering comments and improvement suggestions," she said.

"RTA's first Government Innovation Lab will encompass a host of brainstorming sessions and specialist interactive workshops adopting innovative techniques for generating innovative ideas and thrashing out non-traditional solutions to the current challenges by engaging all internal & external parties as outlined in the Guide of the Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation.

"The RTA is making huge efforts to keep pace with the drive of our prudent government by sourcing innovative solutions compatible with today's requirements through implementing the 'Thinking out of the Box' approach. The UAE in general and Dubai Emirate in particular boasts of a reputed standing amongst the world's top nations in forging the concepts of competitiveness as well as government & corporate innovation in bringing happiness to peoples," said Faridoon in a concluding remark.
