The Roads and Transport Authority – Nashwan Atta’ee:

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recently received a delegation from the Swedish firm Ericsson International to discuss prospects of cooperation in smart services and technological systems of mass transit means among other technological fields. The move is part of RTA’s strategy aimed at engaging the private sector in realizing its objectives; which conforms to the Dubai Government drive.

At the start of the meeting, Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of Corporate Technology Support Services Sector at the RTA commended the key role of Ericsson in telecommunications & smart technologies as a long-standing business boasting of global expertise in this regard. “Ericsson has enriched the digital economy, which commands paramount attention from the UAE and Dubai in particular, in view of its importance in bringing happiness to residents, visitors and tourists descending on the Emirate from all over the globe,” said Al Tayer.

Attendees from the RTA included Agency Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of Public Transport, Adel Shakri, Director of Transportation Systems, Abdullah Al Bastaki, Director of Strategy & Technology Governance and Mohammed Al Khayyat the Director of Smart Services. From Ericsson attended Ms. Charlotta Sund, Senior Vice President, Board Member and Head of Customer Group Industry & Society, in addition to officials from both parties.

“The RTA in Dubai is keen on forging continuous cooperation with a variety of global businesses specialized in information & communication technologies in support of the Dubai Government drive to rank Dubai the smartest city in the world. Such an objective can be met through the automation of all services and switching to a smart service environment capable of bringing happiness to clients spanning all community spectrums. The cooperation with a reputed firm like Ericsson adds value to technologies used in RTA’s smart transit systems comprising the metro, tram, public buses, water transport as well as other diverse service packages. The RTA is seeking to improve on its service offerings to make them more accessible & faster in a bid to save customers’ time & effort,” he added.

Ms. Charlotta expressed thanks and appreciation to the RTA for availing Ericsson an opportunity to meet with RTA’s technology executives to explore the potentials of enhancing cooperation in supporting services provided to RTA customers. She noted that RTA’s efforts were catalyst to the image of Dubai as a leading cosmopolitan and a reputed hub of financial, economic, commercial and tourist services among other vital fields.
