NEW YORK, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Gulf Carrier Qatar Airways has ordered $18 billion worth of Boeing Co jetliners, a deal that includes firm orders for 40 widebody aircraft and options for 60 narrowbody 737 MAX jets, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The order, due to be announced by the airline at a news briefing in Washington, D.C., on Friday, is valued at list prices. Airlines typically receive steep discounts on large orders.
