DUBAI (Zawya Dow Jones)--MSCI Inc. (MSCI) will announce on Dec. 14 the results of the market classification review for a possible upgrade of the U.A.E. and Qatar to emerging market status, the index manager said.
The results of the market classification review for the MSCI U.A.E. and MSCI Qatar Indices will be disclosed on Dec. 14, shortly after 2300 Central European Time, the company said in an emailed statement Friday.
MSCI in June had extended the review period by six months for the potential reclassification of the MSCI Qatar and MSCI U.A.E. indices from frontier market to emerging market status, saying at the time that it needed more time to study whether both countries merit promotion.
