Middlesex University Dubai plans to host a series of induction days for new students throughout the summer. The latest inductions were held on the 6th and 7th of July 2011.
Induction prepares students for the start of the new academic year by providing valuable information about programmes, student services and the university in general. To further personalize the experience and allow students to interact with faculty and staff, the induction days were tailored to specific groups of students which ensured that their information needs were met effectively. "The response from new students about the induction days has been overwhelmingly positive and feedback from the events highlighted the usefulness of the sessions" commented Professor Raed Awamleh, University Director. Participants also enjoyed meeting and socializing with fellow students who are studying the same programmes.
Students attending induction days will join the growing Middlesex University Dubai community of over 2000 students in October 2011, when classes commence for the 2011/2012 academic year. Further inductions are scheduled this month and next month.
Many students were joined by their parents at the induction events. However, Middlesex University Dubai is also hosting Open Evenings for parents and prospective students on the 16th and 30th of July, 2011, which will give the opportunity to find out more about the university and attend counseling sessions with faculty and programme leaders.
The Dubai campus is celebrating its sixth year in Dubai which currently enrolls over 1750 students and has more than 1400 graduates. All academic programmes in Dubai have the same validation and monitoring systems as in the London home campus, with the same examinations taken simultaneously in both cities. The Dubai campus offers 33 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in a variety of areas including social science, arts, education, business, and IT. The UK's Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education's (QAA) has given its top-most rating to Middlesex University in 2009. QAA identified as 'good practice' the meticulous attention given to the establishment, development and integration of the University's Dubai campus. The University was praised for assuring that learning opportunities in Dubai are comparable to those available to students in London. The campus is also licensed by the Dubai government's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). Furthermore, the University Quality Assurance International Board (UQAIB) at KHDA reviews all programmes on offer in Dubai to ensure that the quality of programmes taught in Dubai are equivalent to those at the home campus in London.
