Abu Dhabi: Individuals applying for or renewing their residence visas must provide the Department of Immigration with a copy of their health card or of their new health insurance card, officials have said.
Ebrahim Al Mousa, Executive Director of the Finance and Administration department at the General Authority for Health Services (GAHS) in Abu Dhabi, told Gulf News that anyone with a valid health card can apply for or renew their residency visa, and that those who are included in Phase 1 of the Abu Dhabi health insurance scheme must attach a copy of their insurance policy to the required documents, along with their medical fitness certificate.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Immigration has stopped accepting any applications for residence visas without a copy of a valid health or insurance card.
Al Mousa said that working with the Department of Immigration was the best way to make sure the health insurance law was properly implemented.
