• Finalists include companies from 14 different countries

• Apparel Group, RTA and Commercial Bank of Dubai among winners

Dubai - His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai International Marine Club, attended the inaugural International Business Excellence Awards. The Awards were hosted by Awards International in partnership with the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai, Cranfield School of Management and Sharjah Tatweer Forum. The Ceremony was also attended by His Excellency Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of DED.

The two-day event included over 100 presentations given by the finalists to panels of expert judges. Categories included Marketing, Financial Services, Education, Customer Experience and Sustainability.

Altogether there were 23 category award winners with Apparel Group being the big winners on the day, taking home four Awards. Platinum Heritage and Commercial Bank of Dubaiwon the coveted Overall Sector Specific and Overall Discipline Categories respectively.

The Awards represent the beginning of an annual programme aiming to recognise business excellence from across the world. As a means of supporting Dubai Expo and UAE Plan 2021, the IBX Awards will always be held in Dubai.

Professor Joe Nellis, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Cranfield School of Management, Professor of International Management Economics highlighted the importance of recognising excellence from companies within and beyond the borders of the UAE.

"Dubai is perfectly placed both geographically and culturally to host an international business awards programme of this nature. As part of the UAE's vision to become a knowledge based economy, it is imperative that there is an awareness of leading business initiatives from across many different sectors. The IBX Awards provides this, as finalists have the opportunity to showcase their companies to a large audience. As the Awards continues to grow, this will assist in the realisation of the UAE becoming a sustainable and diversified economy."

The International Business Excellence Awards recognise business excellence from around the world with the Finals and Awards Ceremony being the culmination of an engaging and exciting awards journey for all of the participants. The Awards aim to support organisations and businesses as a vehicle for sharing best practice and for promoting continuous improvement, learning and personal development.
