The Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group yesterday denied reports of dismissing its project management firm Hill International.

It added that it is revising its contractual obligations due to a scaling down of its consultancy services and revised timelines for its City of Arabia project.

"Obviously, the global financial crisis has had an impact and we've responded by rationalising our approach," said a company spokesperson. "Because of the expertise we have in the company, we've been able to draw on in-house skills and scale down some of the consultancy services as timelines are adjusted.

"We enjoy a strong working relationship with Hill International and are revisiting our contract with the company with the intention that they continue as project managers for City of Arabia." Also, the P&T Group, which is the lead consultant for City of Arabia, will ?continue to play a key role in the project's progress, the spokesperson told Emirates Business.

"The most dramatic sign of the rapid progress on site has been the rise from the ground of the superstructure for the Mall of Arabia, which will be one of the world's largest retail resorts," the spokesperson said. "Work is moving full steam ahead on Wadi Walk and on the first three of the commercial and residential high?rises." The project is in Dubailand.
