MUSCAT: BankMuscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate, recently conducted a series of customised Islamic banking courses.
The learning and development solutions for staff came as part of the bank's commitment to launch Islamic banking products and services in accordance with the directives of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.
The courses were conducted by expert facilitators from SHAPE Financial Corporation, a leading Islamic finance consultancy and training provider led by a team of professionals with considerable international experience in Islamic finance best practices in all financial markets.
The bank customised the courses to provide general awareness modules that imparted broadbased knowledge and skills of the Islamic finance principles.
The foundation modules were followed by in-depth coverage of various products and services across all business verticals, including retail liabilities, retail assets, corporate banking, project finance, trade finance, treasury, sukuk and Islamic funds. Specialised modules were also devised and delivered to business support functions such as finance and accounting, risk management and information technology.
Over 250 staff members attended the courses. In order to reinforce the learning gained from the courses, the lender has arranged online resources and publications from leading Islamic finance industry bodies.
Salim Al Kaabi, assistant general-manager (Human Resources Management), said: "Organising the comprehensive suite of Islamic finance courses reaffirms the bank's commitment to develop the competencies of its human capital and ensure they are provided with unique learning and development opportunities that enable the Bank to maintain its leading position in Oman."
