By Miyoko Ishigami (with photos) Guangzhou, CHINA, Oct 22 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Abdulaziz Al-Khaldi on Saturday spoke highly of trade and economic relations between Kuwait and China.
Al-Khaldi made remarks in his meeting with Deputy Secretary-General of the Guangdong provincial government Li Chunhong in the presence of Kuwaiti Consul General in Guangzhou Abdulwahab Al-Sager. According to Al-Khaldi, the volume of bilateral trade between Kuwait and China has constantly increased, reaching USD 5.7 billion during the first nine months of this year. Al-Khaldi called for enhanced cooperation between Kuwait and the Guangdong government in a wide range of fields, particularly tourism, investment and exhibitions, and stressed the need to intensify mutual visits in order to exchange information and views.
For his part, Li welcomed his ideas, noting that the provincial government will offer assistance and support to Chinese enterprises wishing to expand economic activities in Kuwait.
Al-Khaldi also held talks with China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Guangdong Sub-Council Vice Chairperson Zhang Hua and Deputy Director General at Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation of Guangzhou Municipality Yuan Yue to discuss future cooperation between the sides to facilitate the participation of delegations of businessmen from both countries.
Meanwhile, Al-Sager held dinner in honor of Al-Khaldi and his accompanying delegation, Kuwaiti businessmen participating in the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) and the Arab community in the provincial capital.
Al-Khalid is currently visiting China at the invitation of China's Vice Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying to hold talks with the Chinese officials in Beijing and attend the Canton Fair in Guangzhou.
