Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabis imports from India increased to Dh1.7 billion ($485 million) in the first nine months of 2011 which constitutes about two per cent of Abu Dhabis imports, said Mohammad Thani Al Rumaithi, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Al Rumaithi said that India ranked 13th on the list of countries from which Abu Dhabi imports goods.

India is considered a major non-oil trading partner of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi which recorded Dh434 million ($124 million) in 2010, accounting for 3.74 per cent of total exports, he added.

Al Rumaithi said the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (DED) will organise the Abu Dhabi-Mumbai Investment Forum 2011 in Mumbai on Thursday.

The forum, to be held in cooperation with the Confederation of Indian Industries, will focus on economic, business and investment ties between the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and India.

The Abu Dhabi delegation will be represented by the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry led by Mohammad Omar Abdullah, under-secretary of DED; Mohammad Hassan Al Qamzi, CEO of ZonesCorp, and Rashid Abdul Karim Al Beloushi, executive vice-president of the Industrial Zones at ADPC.
