Abu Dhabi About 100 Emirati professionals in Abu Dhabi emirate will get jobs in waste management thanks to a government initiative.
About 23 Emirati professionals in Al Ain have already got the jobs and signed contracts with the employers at a ceremony in Al Ain on Tuesday.
It is part of an initiative by the Center of Waste Management — Abu Dhabi (CWMA) and the Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council.
The Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council is a government entity spearheading the Abu Dhabi Government’s efforts in Emirati work force development.
The CWMA has made an arrangement with the private companies it has engaged to offer waste management and pest control services in the emirate, to provide jobs for Emirati professionals, an official spokesperson of the centre told Gulf News yesterday.
As part of the arrangement, six private companies in Al Ain recruited 23 Emiratis with the help of the Tawteen council, she said.
“They will work in managerial and technical positions,” she added.
Extension
This initiative will be extended to Abu Dhabi city and the Western Region, a senior official said during the ceremony.
“When the initiative is extended, the number of beneficiaries [Emirati professionals] will go up to 100,” Majid Al Mansouri, Managing Director and Chairman of the CWMA, said.
The spokesperson told Gulf News that the centre is negotiating with the companies in Abu Dhabi city and the Western Region as part of this initiative.
Ali Rashid Al Katbi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council, said: “This initiative reflects the commitment of the CWMA to support Emiratisation policies set by the Abu Dhabi Government and the importance of Emirati participation in the conservation of natural resources in a modern and civilised manner.”
He stressed that the signing of the contracts is a first step in the process of attracting qualified Emiratis from various disciplines who are ready for the challenges of preserving the environment.
Hamad Al Amiri, General Manager of CWMA said: “We hope that this is the beginning of a series of initiatives carried out by national companies and institutions to enhance the role of Emiratis in the private sector and provide more opportunities for local people.”
