RIYADH — More than 100,000 Saudis work in 35 industrial cities established by the Saudi Industrial Property Authority (Modon), according to its spokesman Sami Al-Hussaini.

Speaking to daily Al-Madina, he said the number of Saudis working in these cities would rise to about 140,000 by 2020.

The spokesman said Modon’s contribution to the Kingdom’s GDP through its investments in the industrial cities was expected to rise from its present level of SR104 billion to more than SR140 billion by 2020.

He said the total area of the industrial cities reached more than 190 million sq. meters by the end of 2016. Modon signed more than 6,000 industrial, service and logistical contracts during the period.

Hussaini said Modon focused on the quality industries with added value within the National Transformation Program 2020 to achieve sustainable development within its role as an enabler to the industrial sector.

He said Modon is determined to further develop it cities to make them attractive to investors, especially in the transferable industries with added value.
